We have had quite the wedding preparations going on around here lately. Here are some of the activities that were going on in the Andelin household prior to the wedding:
Sewing bridesmaid dresses:
| Lots of lovely patterns were used... |
| Sewing takes a LOT of concentration! |
| Pins: one of the most helpful tools. |
Pie making:
| It can get pretty messy. |
| I love cinnamon. |
| We ran out of room for the pie crusts so some had to go in the toaster oven--don't worry, it was off :) |
| I love pumpkin pie! |
| Of course we had some lovely Christmas music playing |
| I think eggs are the most important ingredient in pie. Don't you? |
| Cheese cake was also made. |
| Back massages are ALWAYS nice :) |
| Not quite sure what's going on in this picture (besides some chip eating in the background) |
And then, most importantly.... WEDDING CAKE MAKIN'!
Ingredients included:
Lots and lots of this nasty stuff. |
| Of course our cake mixes. Yes, I did use cake mixes. |
| And definitely some excitement :) |
| Before the chocolate swirls |
| The pan used to melt the chocolate. Word of warning: don't put cake batter into hot, melted chocolate. The result will be very delicious, but not exactly the right texture to swirl in the cake... |
| And the baked product. Doesn't it look yummy? |
So you see, preparing for a wedding can be extremely fun/exhausting/stressful/frustrating/exciting! The dresses were all finished on time, the pies and cheese cake delicious, and the cake successfully brought to the reception location (I'll put pictures of the finished product when I get some...why do I always forget to take my own?!) These were just a few of the things we had to do before Saturday. Add in decorating, making the food for the luncheon, preparing tributes, cleaning the house up for the family dinner the night before, fixing hair, shopping for wedding stuff, etc etc etc... and it gets even more exciting :)
And, for your enjoyment, here is a list of a few of the funny/dreadful things that happened on the big day:
- Nephew got into the frosted wedding cake when I ran upstairs really quick to pull my dress on
- Salt was used instead of sugar in the filling (don't worry, we caught it in time and it wasn't put in the cake)
- I forgot to get Mary's coat when we all drove to the Temple--that was horrid! It was FREEZING!
- The potatoes were forgotten and not put into the oven before we left for the Temple. Hence they were not cooked in time for the luncheon. But thanks to some ingenious Aunts, friends, and the handy microwave, they weren't too late in getting done.
- I accidentally cut the top layer of the wedding cake (who cares about the tradition to save the top and eat it later anyway? Whoops!)
- There were many more, but I can't remember them right about now.
But it was a wonderful day. Congratulations, Jason and Chelle!
